Remember How I Wasn't Super Satisfied with The Avengers?

Batman was so much worse. Long winded essay to follow in the next post. I'll give you the summary: tl;dr.

I'll keep it brief because I don't like to glom onto the tragedy of others. So, to be clear, this isn't about Aurora, Colorado so much as it is about a dalliance with solipsism. That's how I get when senselessly horrible things happen in my country. I genuinely spend some time discerning if this is reality or if I've made it up. I live in one of the most violent cities in the world, I understand that there's a history of interpersonal violence in this country that is staggeringly constant on the smaller scale and cyclical on a larger scale. I get that. That it's been normalized to white noise is a symptom. Most of us manage to live avoiding those horrible extremes of expression but I have to wonder how often we're turing a blind eye to the rot, to the minutiae of daily horrors that compress a person into a shape that is less than human and can discard others human lives as such.

Happy 4th from a not particularly spectacular patriot!

Also, a philosophical question, if an erstwhile writer of fan fiction decided she should now get into and write about a show that's been off the air for the near side of a decade, like, mhmmm, Farscape, and she wrote about that show would there be people that would care to read such a thing.

In other words, if a story fall int he forest with no one around to hear, does The Internet care?

Well. Perhaps we'll find out.

Faith in Humanity

I'm not one for adorable internet pictures of kittens but I was a bit struck by a few of the "Photos to Restore Your Faith in Humanity" from ONTD. Particularly the two runners (probably because my lacrosse team used to do that noble kind of shit. Also, the old people tackling the power station because old, brilliant, proud people taking on risks is the Miracle Gro of my soul (as in, I might only like the Hunger Games at all because of Mags).

Also, I've finally gotten around to beginning Farscape. I'm not in love yet (the sci-fi part of my heart still basks in BSG) but I'm enjoying it.

So I had one of those nights in which I decided to drink a lot and make aggressively make out with a 23-year-old boy who was my birthday twin. It A) fun and B) totally inappropriate.

So I'm in this strange position where I'm a bit sick and all I seem to want is really excellent Iron Man fic, Yeah, bizarre insatiable craving. Like, you know, when you think you might die without something crunchy to snack on? Yes, like that. Except what I want is superb Iron Man fic. Preferably Gen-fic or Tony/Pepper.

So what do you think, f-list? Help a sister out?

So it turns out Blake Lively replaced Jennifer Lawrence in Savages. Wow, ever realize you could have gotten a completely different film? Not for nothing, I would utterly love to see Lawrence take on the role of a sexually confidant and aggressive female. It wouldn't be a total stretch after X-Men but it would be  nice change of pace after the sort of confidence and maturity she employed in Hunger Games and Winter's Bone.

I feel no remorse at all for blaming falseeeyelashes for this. I'd give it a rating but it features notoriously incestuous twins so, you know, use your judgement.

Like Lions to the Slaughter, (1/n) Jaime/Cersei, AU in which the twins are Careers out of Ditrict 2, i.e. Hunger games cross

sort of.Collapse )
